The main tasks and activities of the Department are:
scientific, information and analytical support for the activities of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the formation and implementation of legal policy in the field of socio-political development;
organizing and conducting fundamental and applied research aimed at forecasting and developing priority areas for the development of legislation in the socio-political sphere;
conducting legal expertise and preparing opinions on draft laws regarding the development of the socio-political sphere, submitted for consideration to the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan;
systemic political and legal monitoring of the effectiveness of law enforcement practice, the execution of decisions of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other regulatory legal acts;
conducting a systematic analysis and developing proposals for improving the organizational and legal framework to strengthen public and parliamentary control, develop civil society, as well as the active participation of citizens in socio-political processes;
study of urgent problems of improving the legislative base of ongoing socio-political reforms and the development of civil society;
regular study of the situation in the field of interethnic and interfaith relations, development of proposals for strengthening the atmosphere of tolerance in society and preventing the spread of radical and extremist ideas.
