On February 25, in Tashkent, B.Muminov, Head of Department of Legislation in the Judicial and Legal sphere, took part in a meeting of the Senate Committee on Judicial and Legal Issues and Anti-Corruption.

During the event, the draft law ‘On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aimed at Further Strengthening the Foundations of Parliamentary Control’ was discussed. This draft law introduces amendments and additions to the legislation on parliamentary activities, providing for the hearing of information from heads of state bodies on the implementation of the Constitution and laws, as well as state programmes, at committee meetings of the chambers.

The draft law ‘On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aimed at Creating More Favourable Conditions for Citizens and Entrepreneurs when Applying to Economic and Administrative Courts, as well as Improving Access to Justice’ was also considered. This draft law supplements the Code of Administrative Responsibility with a new provision stipulating the procedure for considering cases of administrative offences in the process of dispute resolution by administrative courts. In addition, amendments and additions are made to the Code of Administrative Procedure and the Economic Procedural Code aimed at introducing extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Experts noted that such changes serve to create more favourable conditions for citizens and business entities when applying to the courts, to increase the efficiency of the courts, and to establish effective judicial control over the activities of state bodies and officials.

At the end of the discussion, the Committee adopted the relevant decisions.
