On February19, ILLP Chief Research Fellow Professor A.Akilov took part in an online international round table discussion organized by the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly on ‘Artificial intelligence and its application in the electoral process: a comprehensive approach and legislative regulation’.
The round table was organized as part of the programme of the international scientific and practical conference ‘Building Trust in the Institution of Elections and Referendums: The Role of International Observation.’
The event was attended by parliamentarians, representatives of electoral bodies and experts from CIS countries, who also delivered presentations.
During the round table, participants discussed current issues related to electoral law and the use of artificial intelligence, as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on the electoral environment and public awareness.
The participants agreed that further development of cooperation between CIS countries in the field of legislative regulation of the use of artificial intelligence in the electoral process is extremely important.
Following the round table, relevant recommendations on the issues discussed were developed.
