On October 21-22, 2026, in Fergana, representatives of the ILLP took part in a seminar on strengthening strategic planning capacity.
The seminar was organised by the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms in collaboration with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The event was attended by representatives of the local administrations of the Fergana, Andijan and Namangan regions, their information and analysis departments, the Association of Mahallas and the aforementioned organisations.
During the seminar, an exchange of views took place on the methodological, organisational and legal aspects of strategic planning for the socio-economic development of these regions of the republic, and presentations were given by experts from the organisations represented at the event on the issues discussed.
Speaking at the event on the topic ‘Territorial analysis as the basis for strategic planning’, chief research fellow of the ILLP, professor G. Malikova emphasised the importance of taking into account the resources, economic specialisation, infrastructure, demographics and human resource potential of each district, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach to all regions when strategically planning their development.
