On June 6-8 of this year, in Shanghai, a delegation of ILLP, led by Deputy Director V. Ergashev, took part in the SCO International Think Tank Forum on the theme ‘The SCO in an era of global transformation: meeting challenges and forging ahead’, organized by China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation (CNISCO) at Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL) to mark the 25th anniversary of the SCO.

The event was attended by heads and experts of relevant research, analytical and educational institutions of the SCO member states.

The forum’s agenda included global and regional security risks and threats, current geopolitical transformations and their impact on the SCO’s activities, as well as current trends and prospects for the Organization’s development.

The experts’ presentations focused on key areas of the SCO’s adaptation to the new international environment, including improving global governance mechanisms, strengthening regional security, developing economic, energy and transport interconnectivity, and establishing new financial, technological and humanitarian instruments of cooperation.

During the forum, it was noted that the SCO is adapting to global changes by strengthening coordination in the political, economic and security spheres. Think tanks play an important role in this process by creating a forum for experts to forecast risks and develop coordinated solutions.

The outcomes of the forum revealed a strong consensus that the SCO is entering a phase of structural transformation, driven by changes in the international order, the strengthening of multipolarity and the growing role of regional centers of power.

On the sidelines of the forum, the ILLP delegation also held bilateral meetings with the Vice President of SHUPL, Executive Deputy Director General of the Office of CNISCO, Professor Luo Ligang and Head of the School of Digital and Intelligent Law at SHUPL, Professor Cao Yang to discuss prospects for the further development of mutual cooperation.
