On June 22-28 this year, ILLP chief researcher Bekzod Muminov, as part of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, took part in a training course on the theme: ‘Learning from Germany’s experience in preventing violence, extremism and crime prevention’, organized in Germany with the assistance of GIZ.

Representatives of law enforcement agencies and scientific institutions from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan also attended the event.

The event brought together leading experts from scientific and law enforcement institutions in Germany and other countries.

During the training course, participants learned about Germany’s best practices, latest achievements, and scientific approaches to preventing crime, violence, and extremism.

Panel sessions addressed issues related to the prevention of violence in public spaces and on the Internet, as well as innovative security research, social approaches to combating crime and extremism and the role of civil society in their prevention.

The discussion was accompanied by an active exchange of views and analyses of the possibilities of adapting these practices in the context of Central Asian countries.

A look at Germany’s experience in this area will allow us to conclude that the country demonstrates a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to preventing extremism, violence and crime, combining the efforts of the police, science and civil society.
