On April 16 of this year in Bishkek, Head of Department of the ILLP I.Uralov participated in the international scientific conference titled “The Global Development Initiative and the Modernization of Central Asia,” jointly organized by the Kyrgyz State University and Lanzhou University of China.
The event featured presentations by representatives of the state authorities of Kyrgyzstan and the Chinese diplomatic mission in the country, as well as scholars and experts from Central Asian countries and China.
During the conference, participants discussed issues of modernization of Central Asia in the context of implementing China’s global initiatives, as well as current trends and prospects for the development of relations between the countries of the region and China within the framework of the “Central Asia – China” cooperation format.
Speaking at the event, the ILLP representative noted the significant importance of the ‘Central Asia – China’ mechanism in the current context of the transformation of the global economy and the intensification of regionalization. In his view, cooperation between the countries of the region and China within this format is yielding significant economic results and is gradually acquiring a systemic character. Provided that a strategic balance and a pragmatic approach are maintained, this mechanism has the potential to become one of the key factors in the sustainable development of the region’s states. Referring to the initiatives put forward by Uzbekistan within the ‘Central Asia – China’ format, the expert emphasized the importance of their implementation for the further development of multifaceted practical cooperation between the countries of the region and China.
The conference also featured presentations of the scientific monographs “Modern Central Asia: Regional Dynamics and the International Dimension” and “An Outline of the Demographic Culture of Kyrgyzstan,” prepared by the Kyrgyz State University and Lanzhou University of China.
On the sidelines of the conference, the ILLP representative held a meeting with the Deputy Director of the Institute of Central Asian Studies – Dean of the Institute of Politics and International Relations at Lanzhou University of China, Professor Zhu Yongbiao, to discuss prospects for establishing mutual cooperation.
