On 20 August in Warsaw, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Head of the Institute’s Sector K. Aripov, was received in the Sejm of Poland, where a meeting was held with Jacek Karnowski, Deputy Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy.
As part of the Uzbek delegation, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Poland A. Agzamkhodjaev and staff of the diplomatic mission took part in the event.
During the meeting, Mr Karnowski spoke positively about the large-scale democratic transformations taking place in Uzbekistan.
The Polish side explained the organisation of the system of local authorities and local self-government in Poland, drawing attention to such issues as: the procedure for drawing up budgets of administrative-territorial units, the mechanism for monitoring the legality of decisions, the methodology for elaborating development strategies, etc. The two sides discussed in detail the problems of the local government system in Poland.
As a result of the meeting, agreements were reached on further development of bilateral cooperation in the discussed and other areas.
